CPIR Climate Change Action Group is working with Cornwall Council to deliver the Back Garden Tree Giveaway on Saturday 3rd of December. Any resident can turn up at their local distribution point and choose a free tree for their home.

The trees are being provided by the Cornwall Council Forest for Cornwall Team who aim to support and empower the people of Cornwall to tackle the climate and ecological emergency.

Free trees will be available to pick up from Redruth Community Centre 9.30am-12.30pm or the Bassett Centre in Camborne 9am-3pm. They will also be available from Carn Brea, Illogan, Portreath, Stithians, Carharrack, St Day and Gwennap. Precise locations and timings available from local Facebook pages or Parish Council.

Tree available for medium sized gardens are: Crab Apple, Rowan, Wild Service Tree, Field Maple, Whitebeam and Wild Cherry. For smaller gardens there are Hazel, Spindle, Dog Wood and Guelder Rose.

Trees will come with a spiral guard and cane. The spiral guard will protect the tree from voles or mice and the stake will keep the guard staying upright.
