Good News for The Spinney
Veor Rugby Club have kindly committed to supporting a much-needed clean-up of ‘The Spinney’ in Camborne on Sunday 6th October.
The Spinney is a well-used area of green space situated behind Camborne Parish Church. In recent times the space has been subjected to substantial vandalism and anti-social behaviour which means it is desperate need of attention. Fortunately, a kind offer of willing volunteers from near-by Veor Rugby Club means the area is set for a much-needed spruce up in early October.
In 2004 extensive development of the area was undertaken at a cost of more than £100,000 which was mostly funded by the Countryside Agency’s Doorstep Green Project. Since then, the space has been managed as a registered charity by a small committee of volunteers. Despite financial assistance from the Town Council and other funding bodies; repeated repairs and maintenance costs have been difficult challenges to overcome.
‘The Spinney is a space we are working hard to keep safe and attractive for the community to use. We are very grateful of the offer from Veor Rugby Club to help us clean it up. We welcome anybody else who would like to volunteer and help on the day.’ Colin Godolphin, Chairman of The Spinney Committee
If you can offer help on the day, please meet at the Spinney from 10am on Sunday 6th October. For further information please contact Colin Godolphin on 07907798321 or Jeff Collins on 01209 710636.
