Childrens Lantern Parade- Friday 29th November
Let there be light… and lots of family fun!
A key part of the town’s Christmas celebrations for more than ten years, Camborne Town Councils’ 2019 Children’s Lantern Parade will take place on Friday 29th November as part of a collaborative ‘Christmas Lights Switch-On Day’ delivered by Camborne Town Council, BID Camborne & Camborne Parish Church.
This much anticipated event is a great favourite with young and old alike. It is expected the combination of the Town’s Light Switch-On, Lantern Parade and Christmas Tree Festival will bring the whole town together to celebrate Christmas with light, music and a whole lot of fun!
The parade will see children from Camborne Nursery School, Penponds School, Rosemellin CP School, St John the Baptist RC School, Roskear Nursery & Infants School, St Meriadoc Nursery and Infant Academy, St Meriadoc Junior Academy, Trevithick Learning Academy, Troon CP School and Weeth CP School process with their hand-made lanterns through the town.
The proceedings will be led by Father Christmas himself, and accompanied by the exciting rhythms of the Combined Schools’ Samba Band and Combined Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade Band, bringing some South American warmth and carnival atmosphere to help keep the party going!
The parade begins at 5.30pm, setting off from Rectory Road, then taking a route along Commercial Street, through Cross Street, Union Street and Trelowarren Street before settling to watch the formal switch on of Camborne’s Christmas Lights display in Camborne's Commercial Square.
Roads along the parade route will be closed to all traffic from 4.45pm and will re-open soon after the festivities have ended, at approximately 7.00pm. Motorists are asked to be patient and respect the safety of everyone involved in this once a year event.
